What Host Families Can Expect

Hosting a student welcomes another person into your home. We’ve talked about benefits and services, but what are you actually supposed to do? To ensure that host families are integrating students into American life, they are required to provide:

• 3 meals daily
• A room (shared or private)
• Transportation

Step 1:

Step 4: A criminal background check (paid by HAMDEN EDUX)

The online application collects basic information about your household and expectations. It will not be shared or sold to any third-party organizations. 

Phone interviews allow HAMDEN EDUX the opportunity to talk to you on a more personal level. They also give you the chance to ask specific questions that might not have been answered on our website. 

After you have completed an application and over-the-phone interview, one of our local staff members will schedule a brief home visit to assess where the student would live.

If the home visit goes smoothly, HAMDEN EDUX will run a criminal background check for all the adults in your home over 18. A staff member will also contact both references given during the time of application. Once these steps are completed, you will officially join the HAMDEN EDUX family!
